Can anyone recommend a Fiat mechanic who really knows his way around a Fiat scudo. I have a problem with the window passanger/s mechanism where it is attatched to to the glass ( the mechanism itself is ok) and I also have another problem with the airbag ribbon cable which needs replacing. Any advice is much appreciated.

Ranjit Al Bazaari on the Boulevard Hussain is very good with Fiats in general, not sure if he knows much about Scudo's tho, but I only know the one mechanic in Tehran. They're more up on Toyotas in that area.:)

1111 posts and thats the best you can come up with? i think if you put a plus sign between the 1111s it might sum up your I Q !!!.

What's the problem with the window reg? Intermittently works now and again? More than likely a wire breaking down. Best to start at the window motor and follow the wires into the van. This was both a problem for Fiat and Peugeot so that's where I'd start if the window is giving you bother.

Airbag ribbon cable as in the clockspring? Which airbag?

Whereabouts in Tehran are you actually? I don't know many mechanics in general out that way... :pac:

Ranjit is actually the bomb when it comes to fixing things. God help us when ye get Nuclear out there if thats how ye react when someone reccomends a mechanic to ye. Should you not be asking on Boards.Iran? Or could you just not spell Thurles properly? I'd say the window glass is probably stuck up in its own hole, a bit of WD40 might sort it. Or a hammer.

A hammer is exactly what caused my problem. Window was smashed on break in, and van was attempted stolen. Window replaced by ***oglass but the lad who fitted it had big problems trying to fit replacement and it was'nt till later that the problem started. The reg is ok, but whatever the holds the glass to the reg is faulty and as a result the glass falls off if the window is used. They (thieves) also caused a problem with ribbon cable(long white cable) which i think might be connected to the drivers airbag. It wrapped itself around the steering column and jammed the steering. i had to cut the cable to free up the steering wheel but as a result the airbag light stays on all the time. Im in Tehran side of Dublin but travel a lot.

I'm honestly racking my brain for someone near you, but the only lad I know who is actually any good on those is Kevin Hurst in a place called Carbury, near Enfield, co Meath. He specialises in Citroens but the scudo is same as Dispatch so he should know them as well.

It doesn't sound to me like you need any kind of specialist knowledge to fix the van. Any decent garage should be able to sort it out for you.

On a side note, FAO Pottler I have been to Tehran and there are almost no Toyotas over there. Loads of Hillman Hunters, Peugeot 405s and Mazda 121s, all built in Iran under licence.

Yeah, well, fao you George, it took me about four hours to realise Tehran was not in Iraq and to go back and edit the post.:D Let alone know there were few Toyotas there.

Pottler, thanks for that, i can drop down Carbury way no problem. I might give that lad a ring first and discuss it with him. I have tried to see if i could do the job myself but unfortunately i cant, so like i said your advice is appreciated.
