    Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone could help me. I am getting lessons soon as I currently have my provisional. I was just wondering how the driving test is marked and what you need to pass.

I hear people say they got 2 grade 2's etc and was just wondering what that's all about. Thanks.

This document explains pretty much everything!

Edit: And this is what the marking sheet looks like!

    Its pretty simple really.

Grade 1's are greens, are minor faults they don't affect the test result.

Its the Grade 2's and Grade 3's that affect the test result.

Grade 2's are the blues which are major faults.

You are allowed a total of 8 faults or less overall to pass. The only exception is that you could fail on 6 faults under a single heading, 4 faults under a single aspect. I think I got that right.

You fail instantly with a Grade 3 fault. They are the reds, more dangerous faults.

If at all possible try to avoid a grade 3. Very easy to get a grade 2 without realising it but you know if you get a grade 3.

Bumping a kerb in the reversing and turnabout be a grade 2 fault but if you mount the kerb its a grade 3. Keep an eye on overall observation and mirrors, crucial not just the technique of the manoeuvres. Try not to stall either.

Best of luck in the driving and in your test!
