    Hi All,

I have a peugeot 407 2006 I believe it has a rd4 head unit however it can only play standard cd and the radio I would really like to add a usb input.

I cannot swap the head unit as it has several functions that I don't want to lose.

I have looked into purchasing an adapter such as dension or Dice but these seem to really be aimed at people who own Iphones although the dension seems really easy to install.

all I want is to use a usb pen I have seen items on ebay but don't know if I go with one of thos do I need to bring the car to the main dealer to have it activated.

Parrot is another option but it isn't controlled through the steering wheel control.

Some headunits already have facility for AUX-in or USB or iPod but just need the correct cable bought. Others just don't have this facility. Dunno about your Peugeot !

My car has an antique headunit that isn't easily changed out, so to get USB input I added a Parrot Mki9200. It's *perfect* except that it doesn't remember what you were listening to once you switch off the car. I hope Parrot fix that in a later software update... but I can live with it. As a media player, it's fab. Also is great as a handsfree phone too. I got mine from Halfords, it's about as cheap as anywhere else right now.

Mine doesn't have a aux port I believe there is expansion slots on the back you can add an adapter but then you need to go to the main dealer tbh I don't like going to the dealer.

I'm going to get either the dension 300 or the parrot mki9200 I like the dension because it is more discreet and can be controlled from the steering wheel controls.

The parrot also looks interesting and also add the option of hands free calls although I don't think I would use it much if at all.

I can't make my mind up on the two

You can get an add-on to the MKi9200, the Parrot Unika, which makes the steering interface work. I don't have this installed, so I don't know what it does.

My steering-wheel has volume buttons anyway, so that was fine for me as they still work with the headunit eith the Parrot acting as just another music source.

An Xcarlink will play music from an USB pen drive, SD card etc.

I have been looking at that but it appears that it doesn't show the song text when playing which would be annoying.

I have seen a gromusb adapter that works with android devices which if its compatible I will most likely go for every car adapter seems to be geared towards the iphone.
