How does an arrest warrant for contempt travel abroad? Is it valid outside the 26 counties?
    Common law/uk/eu/

Not seeking advice, just haven't heard on the news and was wondering

While officers visited all his known addresses within the Republic of Ireland, Peter Darragh Quinn’s home is in Fermanagh and as a result outside the jurisdiction.
A PSNI spokeswoman has said a European warrant has not yet been issued for the arrest of Peter Quinn and for now the matter lies with the Dublin courts.
It is understood a European warrant must be issued before the PSNI can become involved.
He is safe enough hanging about in NI. I doubt a EAW could be issued for contempt.

Can you back that doubt up?

EAW requires minimum sentences in case of non framework case there must be either the possibility of a punishment of 1 year or a period actually imposed greater than 4 months. As in this case the minimum to be served is 3 months it will be interesting to see if an EAW will work in this situation.

Yep: Thanks. That's why I asked. One wonders whether a further contempt arose on a strict liability basis for non appearance on the last occasion.
