    Hi all
Does anyone know anything about writer conferences in Ireland and abroad.I'm wondering if they are worth going to and if so, why?
Conferences in the U.S. seem to mean meeting a lot of agents and publishers ( maybe I'm being naive here) but it doesn't seem to be so much the case here, or in the U.K.
    Any info. would be appreciated!
    Thanks

That's something I've wondered myself. A lot of professional American writers say they are great, but I haven't seen anything like them in Ireland.

Yeah, and I'm wondering if any of the writer festivals or for example the Listowel week is of any benefit to writers apart from the workshops, talks and the social side (which are all great). I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on any conferences/festivals that give you an opportunity to meet agents and or publishers.

I thought there were some good things at the Dun Laoghaire Mountain to Sea festival last year. There was a writing masterclass with an editor from Bloomsbury and a top English agent.
