So, was fiddling with a machine (not gaming machine, other machine). Put in a gfx card I was testing, switched it on, and... nothing.

    Reset RAM, nothing.
    Reset all cards, nothing.
    Reset all cables, nothing.
Removed all cards, all cables, plugged only main ATX cable in, nothing. PSU won't start.

    Panic!

Looked up "is my mobo fried". Answer = yes.

Looked at mobo model, looked at adverts, found a few close matches. Ensured RAM & CPU compatibility, and looked for ways to totally ensure my mobo is fired.

Step one; ensure cable is plugged into PC; check.
Step two; ensure cable is plugged into wall; FFS, what type of... oh, wait :pac:

Seems someone had left a PSU cable under the desk, NOT PLUGGED INTO ANYTHING.

Hrm. Feck. Machine works now. What was supposed to be a ten minute check turned into a long "holy sh|t did I fry the mobo" non-fun times.
