Anyone have more clarification on this press release?

As such, the Government has decided immediately to bring forward the transition date for access to the labour market for Bulgarian and Romanian nationals.

But it doesn't say what the date is? Anyone know?

According to a Romanian friend, the Romanian embassy is suggesting it's immediately.

"ridicarea, cu aplicare imediată, a tututor restricţiilor impuse pe piaţa muncii irlandeze pentru cetăţenii români."

It's all a bit under the radar.DJEI only just posted it very late on a Friday evening with very little notice. Tried calling DJEI but the offices are closed. Haven't seen anything in the Irish media either. Would appreciate if anyone has more information. Thanks.

I have nothing against foreign nationals coming to Ireland but what about the rest of the people who need work? Other EU countries put restrictions on the amount of foreign nationals allowed into their country so why cant Ireland.

I dont think any eu country can ban other eu citizens from entering their country (possibly can when it relates to crime but am not sure about that). There are still plenty of Irish people unwilling to work or unwilling to lower take certain jobs or even unwilling to retrain after their industry has gone south. Also there are lots of restrictions on non-eu citizens entering the country or working here.

All restrictions have been time limited and I'd guess the time is up...

I'd like to see a study in years time showing how many entered the conutry over a specific time period and what % of them are currently employed.

Firstly there should be a list of what skills the people coming in have. There are many positions which cannot be filled by Irish people and if you are in biz then you need to look farther afield.
