No there are no plans so far for Saorview On Demand, sorry to disappoint.

And I suppose that this can be applied to MMDS.

    Could the following happen.

As a programme airs the STB records a set of programmes as broadcast available for later, thus providing a close to on demand service as possible from a terrestrial service. I ask this as UPC's versions of RTÉ and TV3 players are a reduced form from online.

E.g Saorview STB box begins recording Fair City as it airs, placing it on a different section of the built in hard drive and deletes after 7 days.

And also a pay per view on demand service. E.g. a selection of 5 movies are broadcast and recorded to the STB encrypted ready for an order from the user.

You mean that they would use the bandwidth currently taken up by the likes of Psychics Live? What a good idea.:)

    HAHA. but seriously.

No bandwidth required for RTÉ, TV3 shows, as they air they are recorded and kept on the box for up to 7 days.

Yes rather then Psychics live TV3 could always the latest movie up, which could be then later rented out for 7 days. (Obviously it would air in an encrypted form).

But wouldn't that go against the '.... free for ever!' line they are trumpeting on about at the moment.
