Holiday Time - Couple (Male)

This is more of a request for generic holiday ideas for a gay couple rather than a request for gay holiday destinations. We are going away in september but not sure where yet. We do Sitges quite a lot, for the relaxed daytime attitude towards gays rather than the crazy nightlife / beach scene.

We have done Mykonos twice and its great, but we preferred going there with friends more than we did when it was just the two of us. I have veto'd gran canaria....just don't think its my thing.

Ibiza is an option ** not sure what its like ** but I think I'd prefer something different!!! Maybe ' a little more rural' or less popular??

We are both young(30's is young!!) and just looking for a warm non-city/ non-hectic / non-clubby destination, that may have a gay friendly bar or two....but is commutable directly from dublin and is lovely!! :) thats all!!

I know this is like a wishlist but maybe someone has an idea or two that i havent thought of....

    muchas gracias

Ibiza? You're never too old...I've been there a few times and it never failed....The canaries is absolutely brilliant, was there with my partner a couple of years back. Don't discount it because of reputation, you'd be surprised at what its like. Most of it is a blur but I know it was the business. I've been meaning to take a gay cruise that does rounds of the Mediterranian, sounds like a brilliant buzz.

I find that holidays are really never about where you go but more about who you meet, just back from Gran Canaria and the place we were in couldn't have been lees gran canaria, no noise no drunk english people etc...

Yeah, we're doing the la Demence cruise next year - I've been wanting to do one for years, and that one sounds pretty decent (and a little less expensive than others)

maybe ill give the canaries a second look....one of the quieter towns perhaps!!!

Maspalomas in Gran Canaria is absolutely fine. It's just far enough from Playa Del Ingles (British lager lout central) so you do not endure the noise/OTT antics from that resort. You can head to the Yumbo centre as little or as often as you like (shopping centre that turns into a gay bar/club scene by night) and the beaches are great as are the restaurants.

it would seem the canaries is getting the thumbs up from everyone !! I'll have to see what the fuss is about!!!

was only in Gran Canaria for the first time recently and have already booked to go back in September simply because you're pretty much guaranteed good weather, we'll be staying down south at Anfi beach, well a hotel 5 minute walk from Anfi beach, it's a lovely quiet place with no loud music from bars at night but if you want nightlife then Puerto Rico is only 4 euros in a taxi away

I was in Gran Canaria many years ago and loved it. It has generally good weather all year round, as someone said. There are cockroaches running along the footpaths etc, but they don't bother me!! I found it a relaxing place indeed. Some of the buildings are a bit dates and 'cheap', but if you can see beyond that, it's a good resort. It's a cheaper option than all the other main European 'gay' beach resorts, ie Ibiza, Mykonos and Sitges.

If you wanted something a bit calmer, you could try Lanzarote or Tenerife (but these are less 'gay').

I'm going for a week to Sitges with friends this summer. Looking forward to seeing what it's like!

stop giving me too many options, lol. it just makes it harder to make a decision!!I was in sitges in June for the 12th time (im a creature of habit). Its a great spot. Id always highly recommend it.

Thanks! Just back! It's a nice resort and I can see why it's popular.
I love the weather (of course!), the lovely promenade, the pleasant restaurants with a sea view, the beaches (especially the gay beach) and the general friendly & relaxed atmosphere.

However, as for the scene itself, I found it wasn't entirely to my taste. It's a bit too old, bearish and seedy for me. That said, the Gay Beach Club night on Tuesdays is brilliant.

But I look forward to going back to Sitges again another time.

I would suggest going to Ibiza but not that party mad side of the island (you know what i am talking about ,,lol) I would suggest you stay in Ibiza town or as close as possible .
I went there a few years ago and ist soooo nice , it has a vibrant gay scene if you want it also ,,but its just sooo different to the other part of Ibiza.
Plus you can get a taxi to a gay beach (if u want) about 30 mins away and its beautiful .cant think of the name of it but many u could google it
For me its Ibiza all the way

Yeah, I understand that completely. It's as if the young generation just disappear when the sun goes down. Still, its a great town that I'd highly recommend, particularly for couples or a group of friends. You can pretty much be yourself, at any time of the day, without too much concern.
