Where to rent a BMW 5 series?

Does anyone know where I could rent a new shape BMW 5 series? My sister's wedding is in October and I have offered to provide and drive her wedding car. I thought a 5 series would be nice so I have been trying to book one but when I ring any of the rental car companies they tell me they can't guarantee anything, make, model, colour, nothing can be guanteed, the only thing they can guarantee is the car class. I have also tried Keary's in Cork but they don't rent them out.

If I could get any help with this I'd really appreciate it.

You can try the local BMW garage.

Barry motors Galway does hire of 3 and 5 series. Transfer your insurance over and pay for diesel. I got a 5 series earlier this year from them for my wedding.

I don't wish to upset the Bimmer heads...but would you not consider something more interesting then a car you see hundreds of every day on the road? Rentals are all going to be near basic spec too.

Was thinking exactly the same. I drove to my wedding in a '68 Lincoln Continental borrowed from a friend, and was driven to the reception in a '49 Bentley Mark IV, and they made the day. Well, them and the Midleton Rare.

(Uh, and the wife. Just on case she's reading Motors this evening.)

I wouldn't take a 5 series to someone else's wedding. And we have one.

In fairness a basic 520d is still a decent place to be. 90% of even the Irish ones are auto and leather which is most of what you need.

IN fairness OP if your going to go to the bother of renting something like a 5 series you may aswell go the whole hog and get a 7 series. Its a far nicer and more exclusive car for the wedding, plus its a bigger motor and depending on the dress she is wearing you may need the extra space. Believe me this could be an issue, granted a 5 series isn't that small in the back, but a seven series has that extra led room

Definitely ring your local BMW garage. My sister is getting married next week and our garage sorted us out easy enough with a car for the bridesmaids.

Other than that, ask your friends if anyone has or knows someone who owns a nice big car. My sister managed to get a 2011 Merc S class just by chance by mentioning it too one of the guests who's father in law hand one and he was sound enough to give them a lend of it for the day.

No suggesting that they aren't nice comfortable cars, its more the fact that a wedding car, in my opinion, should be something unusual and unique/different/imaginative. I wouldn't like to look out into the church car park and not be sure which car was the wedding car.

Meh...Better then a 5 series but still nearly as much of a cliché as an old white rolls.

Maybe a Quattroporte or a Panamera would be more like it if you want to go for the high end 4 door.

Thing is, if I had a Quattroporte for my wedding car, I'd want to drive it myself and also I'd never get out of it to go to the actual ceremony...:pac:

How about tell her to walk and get her used to how it'll be once they are married? (yeah I'm single :-) )

I'd love an old white Rolls, but as a daily driver. :)

We found it hard to get anything interesting, nobody we know had anything suitable. Priced s class and 7 series but they came in around 350 euro. I'd rather spend that on something more important, or maybe if I was driving it would be ok (thought not the best idea on my wedding day :D).

The 12 5 series did the job perfect, had the leather and plenty of space for the dress (they're not that big). Plenty of comfort for the hour or so total it was required.

I do, but I certainly don't take my opinions from it.

You could try Paddy Connolly 4x4. He has a place near Kilmecanogue wih a nice selection of premium cars. A "relation" of sorts worked there, and he told me try used to rent out the Bentleys for the weekend. And it didn't seem to be mad money either.

    Edit: stupid inability to spell.

Thats a good point, I'm looking into it, but it seems to be quite difficult to get anything different that does not come with a driver. I can rent a Jaguar XF from Hertz but not really sure about that to be honest.

I would like to get a 7 series or something like it but I just cant seem to find anything, were from Cork and I have rang around the BMW garages and they are not interested at all. There is a local garage that used to have Audi to I'll try them for a A8. I'm willing to travel to get something nice though.

Hey Metalgear2k2, would you go for something like this instead? A little more special for a wedding than a modern 5 series IMHO

Hi there, yes I would certainly be interested if it was my own wedding, specially the self drive e-type, but it's for my sister's wedding and she said I can get whatever I want............ but it has to be modern!
