House set up for Back Boiler

Probably seems like an easy question for some one in the know (not me) but how can i tell if my house is set up for a back boiler?

Our neighbour said that the house is plumbed for a back boiler (news to me) and I just wanted to ask what to check to make 100% sure.

We have pipes running down the side of the fireplace, (just took off a piece of the skirting board and checked ), there are 3 of them and the main water pipe, one of them heated up with the heating (oil) but the other two remained cold.

We got a quote before about putting in a back boiler €1,500 - €2,000 but i'm guessing if all the pipes are in place then it would be cheaper and easier than ripping up floors etc

So my question is what else should i be looking for to see if the house is plumbed for a back boiler?

Hope some one can help and that you for replying :)

Take some photos and put on here of the pipes:D And the pipes in the hotpress and also show your oil boiler. Should have a small feed tank in loft next to a big one.

May be best moved to stoves Questions and answers?
