    Hi All

I'm looking for a basic ladies road bike

I'm 5' 7" so the interweb is telling me that I'll require a 52-53cm frame, but I'm happy to be corrected if wrong.

    Prefarably in or around Dublin

Limit E300 with a little wiggle room

I would've thought a bigger size than that. I'm 5'1" and like a 19" or 20" (49cm to 51cm) frame; I'm cycling a 22" one at the moment, and when I get the perfect bike for me will be selling it because it feels a bit big for me.

I seem to remember that the old-fashioned way of deciding frame size was to subtract 9" from your inner leg length.

A lot depends on your own shape, though; you'll need a different frame size (and shape) if you're spidery with long arms and legs than if you're blobby with squidgy legs.

I personally like Dutch women's bikes, which are built to a woman's shape, rather than being shrunken versions of a male frame. But a long-backed, bosomy friend is about to trade in her sit-up-and-beg road bike for a sportier frame with drop handlebars, which she finds more comfortable.

I'm hoping to go in the sportier direction myself.

Will definitely look into those measurements again though

I wonder would this suit you - I'd go for it myself but the frame's way too big for me

Why do all you guys presume because a woman is looking for a bike she wants a dutch style bike with a basket rather than a racer!!! Sexism is rife on Boards
