Ya think I might have a few someplace from borrisokane vintage rally, known to some as the home of davy browns thanks to Henderson and Bailey. Will dig them out next WET day:)

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Were still running a 1974 996 with a power loader round the yard, she's a bit rough on the outside but mechanically good.
There was a good display at the ploughing two years ago, I have some photos somewhere. Also the lads over on www.dbtc.co.uk have photos of all the models produced and there is a thread there somewhere of models working in the field.

Yea there are lots of them around here still alright and the most would still be earning their keep too... we haven't had one since the 70's tho

first tractor i drew silage with a 995 back in early 80s it was David browns all round ,there were fairly reliable but very slow on the long draw but back than you could spend 2 or 3 days harvesting 30 acres ,big changes in 30 years, wonder what we will be putting in silage with in 30 years time.

    Yea..
Back in the 70's/80's our contractor had a full DB outfit.. cutting with a 996, 2 995's drawing in and a 995 with rollbar and loader with rake backing up... All new machines at the time.. Now he's all John Deer

:D....Our 1976 DB995 is still flying it here. I've replaced a lot of parts in it over the last few years but it's still working away. It's funny but I've sat up on a few other tractors and I still prefer the feel of our DB with the high seating position. I suppose it's what you are used to. I've a feeling it's going to calve some day though. It can't keep going for ever and we use it a fair bit.

Nice driving position but ours is the standard narrow door non-q cab and it can be torture getting up and down, its not something that can be done in a hurry... must admit that I've falen out the door a few times :o

Lad over the road has one, his ol fella bought it new back in the early 70's. Was looking rough a few years ago but he did it up and gave a paint job. Running away nicely. Uses it mainly for light work as he has a few bigger yokes to do the heavy jobs.

There great for tipping round as they are misers on diesel.. In years where the weather is good we'd spread fertilizer and top with ours... Sadly in recent years 4WD is required for near all field work round here..

bought a "rough" 996, last year, hadnt been goin in 10 years.....managed to start it & get it moving but all diesel & hydrualic pipes have to be replaced...cost 800 & scrap metal man had offered €900 seriously concidering it as not financially viable!!

As it is a runner, I bet you'd get more on Donedeal.

It is a pity that more of these were not produced with the Secura cab which offered infinitely a better working environment than the various DB's versions.

Also the high clearance at the time was a market practically cornered by DB.
