    gotta love technology, when I can't sleep I fire up the TED app on the phone... this talk's excellent, even if the explanation of the quantum effect is a bit rushed & short. btw, does anyone know what controls the distance between the disc & the magnet, eg what're the possibilities for the third dimension with this effect?

    I think those TED talks have to be light on the technical content otherwise they'd lose lay viewers like myself!! I assume the distance achievable between the magnet and the semiconductor is dependant on the strength of the magnet?
