Just seen this now. A disgrace I tell you. And mark my words, whats next to follow? Middle class lads from northside rugby schools making it to the halls of Scoil Na Daltai!? Men commissioning from the enlisted ranks?

    It's a slippery slope lads.

I think I speak for us all when I say.... Shut up.

No wildfowler, I shall not be silenced. For too long, society has been tending towards the egalitarian, of having the lower castes getting notions and aspirations of mixing with ladies and gentlemen. It shall not happen, I say. The upper class man has understood leadership all his life, through his rugby and travel. The lower and middle classes are not used to the idea of having to look after 'their men', and why would they, when all they have done is suck at the teat of the government with their 'dole' and 'child benefit'. Not to mention the lack of independent schooling only available to those willing to pay for it! - and not a gap year in sight. The very thought that someone could enter the scoil na daltai, with the guilt of having been on a 'package holiday' on their conscience. It doesn't bear thinking about.

I think it might come from them being posted to USAC in Renmore while they are in college in NUIG.

It might be theoretically possible to walk the railway line at night without a bottle of buckfast. But the idea just feels wrong (like)

I take it you are familiar with the aforementioned tonic wine? Never saw it for sale in Danville I have to say!

That's just the kind of dash and spirit we need round these parts. I'm glad that we've finally added some further top-down engagement to settle the rabble.

I do have to add that magnums of this particular tonic 'wine' shall not be appearing at any of this mans regimental garden parties.

    Yours sincerely

Discus old boy, you've given the game up. You've used the word "lads". There are no lads in the mess, only gents. Now that you've ousted yourself, I suggest you do the honourable thing and go for long walk with the mess webly....

I shall sign it out promptly.

Back to reality though, I'm not surprised they were drinking buckfast, sure so many of them are turf eating boggers anyway!

Is this supposed to be funny?

I don't get it, and I'm kinda p*ssed off at the OP for wasting my time.

If you're complaining about soldiers not drinking, sit the f*ck down and shut the f*ck up, about time the link between soldiers & drink was broken without recrimination.

If they don't want to drink then that's none of your f*cking business.

    End of.

    Actually...

There are 4 northsiders who went to public non-rugby school and also, shock horror, there are 2 of the unwashed enlisted types now walking the hallowed halls of Bialann Na ndaltai as we speak.

    Were doomed!
