Suddently the usb mouse frooze, and when checking leads, got msg device disconnected.

Tried another working usb mouse and no response even after a re-boot.

Pc seems to have frozen at the time and no responce from keys or contrl/alt/delete.

Did a forced shut down but when it boots up I can't login on as mouse doesn't work.

Even if I knew the key strokes to move mouse pointer it probably wouldn't work as device disconnected.

So how can I get back in:(

When you're powering up the machine press the F8 key repeatedly, you should then be presented with white writing on a black background, try going to 'last known good configuration' & move the mouse to a different USB port...

Does the keyboard work either? You may be having a hard disk failure, try last known config as suggested above and back up all important stuff if you get in

no response from keyboard at the time.

Booted up tonight and all was grand.

Hopefully just a glitch and not too worried if it goes down as laptop is my main pc, have backups too.
