So... (I've a small back garden, want to lose some of the grass, but its currently full of weeds and topsoil)

The roundup seems to have turned the weeds yellow. So what do I do now? Do I pull up the weeds/snip them off with a clippers?

Then cover with that black stuff and dump a lot of stones on it?

Then after I can cut slits in it to plant ivy for the back wall and shrubs and things?

I wouldn't bother pulling them up, if it's lawn your loosing then it should be level, run the mower over them, low as you can. Then your weed membrane then your "decorative gravel".
