Has anyone ever got a delivery from Tesco? I'm asking because their website says 24 cans of Guinness for €24 and I went to 3 different Tesco stores today and they didn't have any. However I rang the Tesco extra in Arklow and they tell me it's a mistake on the website so I was wondering if I order them online and get them delivered would I get them for that price? :)

Well you'd have to pay delivery. I'm sure if you pay with your card for 24 euro you'd get it? Can you pay with your card?

I know they were selling slabs of heineken, carlsberg and bud for €24 a while ago but guiness is usually more expensive so Id say its a mistake.

not sure I think I can pay with card thought I would ask here before I try it. It is about €4 to deliver which is still cheaper than anywhere

legally if its marked that price(print it out for evidence) you can get it for that price ,as it was marked that way..

they were selling 24 for €24 for a few weeks the offer ended on the 17th and then the website changed the dates and said still available from the 18th til some date in August

I think the price is only "invitation to buy" so if they make a mistake they don't have to stand over it.
The price on the shelf is the real price (I think)..

The price on the site is usually right, but I believe stock levels depend. Also worth noting that the price given to you on the site is a 'guide price' and therefore subject to change (though if they bring your Guinness to your house at a higher price, you can give them back to the driver for a refund).

I always use Tesco.ie (extremely handy) and my Dad drinks Guinness so whenever the 24 for €24 comes up he gets it with the shopping. It's usually accurate and I've never been overcharged for it.

However, we ordered it on Tuesday and when the shopping arrived yesterday it had no Guinness in it (and we weren't charged, obviously). I'd assume that was down to there being no stock rather than anything else though (I'm in Drogheda).

I got the Tesco news flier in the door yesterday, and the only Guinness offer is a 6 x 330ml bottle pack for €7.

No slabs on offer, just boxes of cans (8 pack) and bottles (6, 12 & 20 pack).

I can't see it on the site?

    picture.php?albumid=2190&pictureid=13435

    Quickly do a screen shot!!

If its in stock between 4am and 8am in the morning, you will get it delivered.

If you get over charged, say nothing, sign for the delivery. Then ring the helpdesk number and query it. You get double the difference as a refund back on your card. Make sure you have the screen shot as proof.

Yeah, it's an invitation to treat.
But if you purchase it, and payment goes through on the website, I don't think they could then ask you to pay more. Technically they'd have accepted the sale at that price, it would be a contract that Tesco's agreed to.
As far as I know anyway, I'm open to correction. Or there might be some clause in the terms and conditions that covers mispriced items.

    From the Tesco website:
"Please note that the prices on our Grocery website are guide prices only.

The actual price you pay is the price charged in store when your order is put together for delivery. This is because:

The prices of some products may vary between when you place your order and when it is delivered........
................When your order is delivered you may return any item and receive a full refund if you consider that the difference between the price charged and the guide price shown on the Grocery website is unacceptable."

    Just a question wmppd3,
does the double the difference apply to Tesco home shopping?

what is on the website about the "guide price" doesn't seem to mention it

Yes as long as the offer was there when you were charged. If you did your shopping Tuersday and the offer ended Wed even though this was early then you wouldn't be overcharged. But if you did your shopping Today and got it delivered at 12pm tomorrow and theoffer was still on the website ~ double the difference. But you'd have to have a screenshot or some other proof.

Contract is valid when you sign for the delivery, imho.

yes I know that but the website says different, some times when they have a special like 8 cans for €10 and it comes to an end they continue it for a few weeks after that date.

It must be an issue with your cache, i've never seen a finished offer not be picked up within a few hours, can you post a screenshot, whats your local shop?

Why is Guinness more expensive? I'm not having a go at you personally but why do shoppers accept that cans of Guinness are more expensive than cans of Bud, Heineken & Carlsberg.
In my local a pint of Guinness is €4.10 & a pint of lager is €4.50. Why doesn't these price arrangements follow onto the price of cans?
