Is MacBook Air too small?

I need to get a laptop for college and I am certain on getting one from Apple but the cheapest MacBook Air is 11 inches. I converted that and it's only 28 cm!! :O It seems very small compared to the 44cm Dell one we already have. I realise it's meant to be small but is it TOO small?

If anybody here has one could you tell me if it takes some getting used to, if it's actually better than a big laptop etc? Would the 13 inch one be better as that is 33cm (but it's more expensive!). If anyone has a MacBook Air would you recommend it? Thanks!

I have a 13" air and my housemate has an 11".

The 11" has the same screen resolution as most 15" pc laptops. If you have good eyesight, the screen isn't a problem. The 13" feels spacious, and the 11" feels fine. Way better than a big laptop in my biased opinion :)

Could you go into a local shop that sells them and try them out for yourself? Personally, the 11" would be far too small for me.

I have a 13 inch mbp, which I like for it's portability. I plug into an external monitor at home as I find it hard to work on such a small screen. Had to work with just the laptop this week as was traveling for work and man do I have a headache! I really miss my big screen! If you plan on actually doing work on this and basically using as main machine, I would say 11 inch is too small, especially if you will need multiple windows oppen at once. If its mainly for Internet browsing, then it's fine

I personally prefer the 11-inch over the 13-inch Air. I think if you're going to get an ultra slim laptop you might as well go all the way and get something really small and light. Having said that, it is rather small and not suitable for use as a primary machine.

I love my 11 incher. 13 is too big for what it's purpose is really, it's the size of a full laptop. The point of airs is their portability.

    @!@!!@??!?)

11 inch = perfect for netbooky uses, and I've never actually felt like it didn't have enough power to do what I've wanted. Have lightroom installed on it and it actually performs fairly well.

    Yeah, completely depends on use.

    I'm a big fan of 13" laptops..

.. the 11" is too close to a netbook for me.

But if you're using it primarily for it's portability, go for the 11".
