So I have a Kia. I know. I know. I was a young man with limited buying power and an easy target for those smooth talking Kia dealers.

But in it's defence, it does get me from A to B, albeit with the minimum of comfort and style. I've felt better getting off the bus than I have dragging myself out of my Kia.

It seems the electrics are the first to go in the older model Kias and my vehicle is the splendid 2006 Kia Rio. Available with a confident three year warranty at the time.

Basically, the lights stay on when you turn the lights off at the switch and they (unhelpfully) also stay on when the engine is off. On many occasions I have stepped out of the car, locked the door and went to bed only to wake up the following morning to dead battery.

My local mechanic says, its the switch. I get new switch. My local mechanic says, okay, it wasn't the switch. It's the fuse box. It needs to be replaced and it's quite pricey.

Anything else it might be besides the fuse box and is there a way around replacing the thing?

There are relays or some module I think that control the lights, they're supposed to come on with the ignition and turn off when you remove the ignition and open the door with them left in the on position.
