Accommodation for September?

    Hey Folks

I'm starting TCD in September, I'm a mature student so I've got my place secured already. I'd really like to find a studio/flat/apartment before the leaving certificate results come out and places fill up. I'll be moving to Dublin, so I don't know the area...just looking for my own space, ideally somewhere within walking distance (30mins max) of TCD.

I've been looking online, I can see lots of studios available to rent now, but none for September. What should I do, any ideas?

    Thanks!

I've been in similar circumstances. In other years I looked with friends and had a house to ourselves and paid from August. Last year I went solo, wanted to live on my own and could I find anywhere?! looking your own studio/flat/apartment in Dublin is a friggin' nightmare! Or maybe it was a nightmare for me because I was keeping to a low budget... I eventually found my own flat after term had started (at first I lived with strangers just so I would have somewhere to live!). Just keep an eye on daft.ie, I find it is the best site for bedsit accommodation. Ask the owner/landlord if they will hold it for you until September, if not be prepared to pay earlier than that. I have been looking and there are not a lot of bedsit type places around TCD (again, I am within a certain budget, it may be a different story for you money-wise :)) but quite a few in Rathmines, Phibsborough, Cabra, depending on where you are looking and what you are looking...Best of luck with the hunt

    Hey Mary

Thanks so much for getting back to me and for all your helpful advice. I've opted to accept a place at the University of Edinburgh instead. So I guess, my Dublin studio hunt is over. Thanks all the same for taking the time to write back :) Kindest regards,

    Gemma
