Currently using the aldi jack which was fine on the primera but it hasn't enough height to get the axle stands in place under an MR2. :o

I've used this one before on it: http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_216064_langId_-1_categoryId_212549 (GFs dad has one)...

and although you need to use the scissor jack to get it under initially it's a piece of piss to lift the car with it quite impressed by it.

I've a halfords trade card so car get the above for €100 on it...any other recommendations, my budget is €100 or so and don't need anything 'garage spec' as I'm a just a DIYer.

    Cheers Guys ;)

I just went to my local motor factory and got a 3 tonne one like the pic for 90 euro, feels extremely solid and they gave me a good deal on axle stands as well

I have the halfords one and quite happy with it. lifts the car plenty high and a year+ later its still working well.
I got it for about €60 when on sale. I think they are on sale regularly enough or else ask around Im sure someone you know has a trade card for them that will get you a few bob off the full price.

Think I got the same one as you joey. It's a 2.5 ton jack. Pretty heavy though and not particularly compact but does a decent job. I got axle stands for €15 a corner on sale in Halfords too.

A question however can you use a 2 tonne jack to lift a 3 tonne car as you are only jacking one side?
