X-Box power source replacements

    Couple of questions.

My son's X-Box power brick has died. It is 150 watt. Can he replace it with a 175 watt? They are about 1/3 of the price at Amazon UK.

Is there a place to buy a replacement here in Ireland?

Nope. It'd be a different connection for starters (check this link out - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907635).

The likes of Gamestop would do replacement parts, ring up your local one.

If you look closely at the designs there, you will see that each lower power rating console can accept the cable from a higher rating brick (each lower power brick adds a piece of plastic so that it won't slot into the older sockets), as they just won't draw the power, whereas trying to run an old console off a lower power brick just shouldn't work

gamestop didn't stock power supplies last time I was looking for a few.

You can go up in watts but not down for example a console that came with a 175w power supply can use a 203w power supply but not a 150w power supply.

A 203w power supply will work on any xbox 360 console,
Even slim consoles with the help of an adapter.

I may have a 203w power supply somewhere that I might be willing to sell.
