    Hi everyone,

I'm interested in beginners classes in some type of yoga/pilates. I'm not sure which type suits. I'm a little overweight, but starting to get more active. I have heard yoga is good for relieving stress. I would like to do something challenging and enjoyable. Ideally, a class in the morning/afternoon would suit best.

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I go to a Ashtanga Yoga class first thing in the mornings....it starts at 6.30am and goes until 9.00am but you can come anytime between those hours as long as you are finished at 9.00am....

Its run as a self-practice class..., the teacher teaches you the sequence from the beginning and you move at your own pace through the practice adding new postures as you learn the previous ones.....

I go to a place called Oscailt on Pembroke Road, just down from Baggot Street....

if you are interested the website is www.mysorestyle.ie

Hope this helps and best of luck... :-)

The Elbow room seems like a nice place too. they specialise on getting mums back into shape after pregnancy so they have all sorts of incentives and classes going on from Yoga and Pilates to general fitness. I went yesterday and really enjoyed it. It's not just for mums either. The class was varied.

Ashtanga is pretty intense so for a beginner I wouldn't suggest trying this style first time.
