Child needs extra tooth removed

    Hi there,
I've a little boy, nearly 6, who has an unusual extra tooth, fully down, behind his top front teeth. He needs to get it removed as it has started to push his front teeth and it may affect his permanent teeth.

I've had him seen under the public system (following 2 visits to my own dentist) and he was put on a waiting list to get it removed under general anaesthetic. Of course, this appointment is taking longer than expected.

Has anyone any suggestions around this.. To go private in this country I figure would work out at about 2000 euro.
    Any advice would be appreciated,
    Thanks

Or just go to a paediatric dentist who can do the removal under local anaesthetic or nitrous oxide sedation?? The 2000 you are thinking of is mostly for the private hospital and anaesthetic fees. It would also be in your child's best interests to avoid a GA....

General trip to dentist will cover it. Had 4 teeth growing under my tongue when 7-8. Got them removed through the school dentist.

Parents bribed me with soccer jersey. Now understand why as cost of private was so much

OP has already seen a general dentist, twice. Plus a dentist in the health board. If it was feasible to remove in general practice, it would have been done. (plus, the child would need some major bribing to have injections into the palate;) He's only just turning 6years of age- have a heart! it's traumatic enough even as an adult)
