    Hi all,

Am presently doing about 600/800Km per week (mostly long distance) and this motoring is costing me quiet a lot on petrol.

I'm looking at a 08 Alfa 1.9 JTD (16 valve, I think). Is this machine economical and reliable? The asking price is 12.5K. Is this value for money?

    Thanks all.

Really nice car to drive. Good engine, but needs to have a decent service history.
I know somebody that got the top model, with that engine and all extras up the north for about 9.5k vrt'd.
So yours does seem pricey to be honest.
Full garage service history and warrenty?
    Still worth about 2grand extra??

Very expensive for an 08, around 10k would be closer to the real value.
Mine does 6-6.5L/100km when driven normally (ie around the speed limit with the odd blast :D)
Not many problems with the engine, its an opel diesel after all. Main problems are with egr valve etc like most modern diesels.
Front suspension and steering racks can wear.
A lovely car and a dream to drive!

OP is asking about value for money, the car in question is a bit on the expensive side.

Its a FIAT engine, used across the FIAT group and licensed to GM during the time the two were cosy-ing up to each other. Its not in any way an Opel engine.
