I done it, first half is all uphill more or less & second half more down than up. It starts and finishes in grounds of Slane Castle which was nice. Not a PB race unless your a serious mover, registration was bit slow last year and only way i could complain about it. Plenty of water stops and good tech t-shirt that is still getting plenty of use. Doing it again this year and would highly recommend it. There was a fete on last year to, so if your a family person loads to keep family occupied while you run.

Or anyone know what time the 5k starts at?

Will be giving the 10 miler a go. First 3 miles look almost entirely uphill but once you get over that you have to go back down the hills so the rest should be a doddle :)

Seems to be the last 3 miles of the 10 miler going out the castle and down the main street before turning back towards the castle in the back entrance. I don't know about PB ability but it doesn't seem too undulating.

Website seems to suggest it's 11.30 for both races.

The first 4.5 miles are all uphill to Ryans of Gormalough, left there back towards main Navan-Slane Rd where you run downhill for first time before another steady climb to get to main rd. From there its up and down along the N2 back into Slane. Its a tough run.

280 done 5km last, 133 done 10 mile. Say there should be roughly the same this year.

What was the parking situation last year? Can you park in the castle grounds?

In a field right beside the castle, it had loads of space and was only 2 min walk to registration down along the Boyne.

5k hard to judge from last year there was a lack of stewards and ended up taking a re-route.

This was my first 5k last year and it was tough, looking forward to being a bit faster this year. It is very hilly but the down hill part at the end is great

I think I'm missing something on the registration or is this a register and pay on the day race??

I'd say registration is closed online, i think you can register on the day but don't take that as gospel.

Last year you could do it on the day

Price will be €25 for 10mile and €15 for 5km up to evening before registration. Registrations and pre reg will take place on Saturday the 18th in the Village Inn Slane between 7pm and 9pm. On the day will be taken on day for both the 10mile and 5km from 9.30 to 11am

    From the website.

No one told me that Slane is in the Himalayas! Very tough ten miler with hills by the bucketload, enjoyed the support from locals & most everything was well organised in this scenic location. More water at the finish line & just a few more stewards in critical spots on the course would help make this an even better event.

Was a good run. I was thinking to do it in 1.40 because of the hills and lack of regular training for the last 3 weeks. Finished in 1.31 which I am happy with. The medal is nice too.
Good support from the locals, one had their own water stand before we went back into the castle. Fair play to them.

Well done Slane AC on a well organised event. 10 mile course was as tough as tang1 suggested with lots of ups and downs and very little flat parts in between. Achieved my target of sub 70 mins and even managed a top 25 finish to put the icing on the cake :) Pity there are so few 10 mile races around that part of the country as it's a nice racing distance.

I enjoyed the 10 mile race and was delighted with my medal. I was disappointed that i couldn't get a goodie bag as i had only registered on the day(or so i was told). Other than that i was happy with the event. Took 10 mins off my PB.

Ring them, they had bags for people who registered on the day set aside for after the run. my mate's got theirs, I pre registered and got it before. hope that helps
