I feel so unhappy with my life. I know I have it good in some ways, i have a job and my health. I should be happy, but im not. I feel life is passing me by. Im 24. Im always being let down by people and feel I get taken for granted by my friends. I want to travel so much, i have the money to do so and no one to do it with. I think this is by biggest frustration. I want to go travelling while im young and have the money. But i have no one who is willing to go. I know its easy say do it by myself but that is not what i want. I feel like im being punished and this is my bad karma for something stupid i probably done in the past! This might seem like a trivial problem compared to others but my whole life is being turned upside down with frustration. I just want some advice of any kind. please

thank you for your wise words, although i totally agree with you, it can be hard to do things alone, to go travel alone is a big step, i guess id enjoy the adventure more with someone by my side. Im highly sensitive. I get very offended when i get let down by people as i dont expect much from people or ask people for anything that when they let me down over something simple i take it to heart! travelling and seeing the world makes me very happy. but it feels like its an impossible dream!

So ur stuck in a rut and ya cant get out! Well ur not alone it happens to everybody. Start reevaluating your friends and figure out who actually is there for you! That can relieve alot of stress. Then be spontaneous, get all dressed up and be the fantastic person you no you are!! Karma works in mysterious ways, but there is an answer to change ur luck. I no its silly but ya no that old movie Pollyanna that was out in 60s stupid I no but there was point to it. Pollyanna regardless of how ****ty her life was, she found the positive things in the bad things that happen. If you look at everything that your unhappy bout change it to something positive. The more positive you are then guaranteed for your luck to change and travel and meet new amazing people and have the life you want! Its all inside you, you can do this you just have to believe that you can make those changes. Have little faith! :) Hope this helps

Might I suggest you take a month and do the "camino de Santiago" in spain (Google the movie "The way") Its nearly impossible after 2 or 3 days not to meet someone.

Thanks for your lovely words! I do try to focus on the good and look to the future and not dwell but i guess it can be hard! Being let down is so hurtful. Maybe im just a very reliable person but i never go back on my word if i say i will do something i do it regardless and never ever would i let someone down or hurt them unless intentionally.

    Karma doesn't exist.
    It's just superstitious mumbo jumbo.
If you want to travel then GO! Do what you want to do!

Why not go travelling with a tour group? If there is anywhere you are interested in going just go, either as a long haul trip with a tour company like Intrepid, or maybe shorter European city breaks. Hostels are great for meeting people.
I think you'll find the independence you'll gain from travelling off your own bat will help you immensely the next time someone lets you down. You won't be so hurt and feel like such a martyr/victim. People will never fail to disappoint you, it's just life and they can't help it. You can only control how you react, and the best thing is to get thicker skin, not take it personally and have fun as much as you can.
I know how you feel, but you can get over it and get out there by yourself and make friends travelling! It'd be easier on your own anyway, single travelers are easier to approach. I went away on my own when I was 20 and it changed so much for me.

    Best of luck

I was in the same situation a long time ago but I eventually realised that the only way I could see the places I really wanted to see was to do it by myself and I've never once regretted doing so - had I not done it I know now it would probably have been the biggest mistake of my life. Trust me, it's very easy to meet up with people when you're travelling, be they other travellers or local people. You're correct in saying it's easy to say do it yourself, because it really is that easy once you really want to do it!
