new battery already after cracking

bought a new battery for the car back in february. just by chance i went to check the oil and noticed it was cracked. none of thecaps have acid?water in them. its cracked on the top.can i take it back where i got it and get a free replacement or will i fork out more?

Do you have the receipt? First thing i'd want to know is why it cracked - ie was it being overcharged?

What brand battery is it? If its a decent brand then I'd be looking for a cause, overcharging, as mentioned above, would be likely.
