Says it has an "Irish digital" tuner, so it should at least decode the MPEG4 HD video.

If you want complete peace of mind, just get something Saorview approved.

    OK Thanks

So in theory as long as it has an Irish digital tuner then it should pick up saorview channels

Do I just email or phone saorview to get it approved?

:pac: No, you submit it to Teracom, the Swedish concern tasked by RTENL with the Saorview approval process, pay them a large sum of money (€20,000 has been mentioned) & hope it passes.

You'll find it's generally the manufacturers that set this process in motion.

(This post should probably come with a smartass alert.)

boycott stuff that is essentially being "dumped" here. Only get a Saorview approved set. Do not fall for this "Irish Digital" and loads of Logos Misleading advertising from Retailers in Ireland such as Tesco, Harvey Norman, Dunnes, Supervalu, PCworld/Currys. Some even still have models that don't work at all or are only partially compatible.

Demand the CERTIFIED products. See Link
    http://www.saorview.ie/equipment/saorview-approved-product-listings/

Retail shops selling uncertified product is cheating the manufacturer and the consumer.

On the subject of this Samsung LT27B300, I think it's listed by Samsung as a PC LCD monitor (which happens to be LED-lit and has TV/Audio input functions also)...

You can find the user manual on the UK support pages:
    http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/main/supportMain.do
...look for LCD monitor model T27B300EW [I'm presuming the EW variant is not radically different] Amazon.co.uk has reviews for it as T27B300.

Might be of useful reference to someone.
