Laptop acting up

    Hi,

Any advice here - yesterday for no reason whatsoever, laptop cut out and shut down. Rebooted and ok

Later my USB mouse stopped working. Then it came back.

Later on it froze. Manually shut it down by using power button.

Booted this a.m. and it is not recognising USB Mouse and other USB device, well, I say not recognising it is making a beep beep sound when the USB device is plugged in but the laptop is not letting the device work, so I suppose it is recognising it but they still aren't working.

    Any help appreciated.

sounds like your hard drive is damaged or your Os is corrupted in some way

The laptop shutting down/freezing and the USB not being recognised may not be releated. Go to myComputer->right click-properties->Hardware>device manager Check to see if there are any yellow exclaimation marks... if there are you are missing a driver, and need to fix that first.

If there are no exclaimation marks, then go to the bottom of device manager and click the + sign beside the usb controller, uninstall all the usb hubs.. then reboot the machine.

See how you go with that...

Shutting down suddenly is overheating of the CPU, it just may need a cleaning of the vents and make sure the laptop is always used on a flat solid surface.
Google the model to ensure there are no issues with dust build up inside tha machine in the vents due to design.

    edit,
try update the usb controllers in device manager or check the manfacturers website for a chipset/usb drivers update.

A friend of mine had the same problem on a dell laptop. He was using a cheap replacement power lead and it started burning out parts bit by bit.

It would be a bit odd for a usb driver to just go missing aswell, its probably a hardware problem or else Windows is starting to corrupt completely.
