Long story short, had to close down last week(sole trader),signed on on Monday for JA.No indication as to how long this will take.Went to local cwo, pleaded my case,no savings.no income, owe bank, owe revenue, mortgage etc.Filled up a supplementary welfare form. She wants bank statements and Certified Accounts to means test this also. I owe my accountant money already, cant afford to add to this, assuming that he'd do them in the first place. Does it have to be an accountant to certify them?.My OH does the books anyway,he just signs off on them, but knows how to charge.Cheers in advance

Ask if they will accept accounts that OH does up as you will also need accounts for means testing for jsa. So if you do have to get certified accounts be sure and copy them so you will have them for jsa means testing.

Ask your accountant to do it and see what response you get, I was in the same boat and my accountant done them for me even though I owed him money.
Dont give the welfare any original documents, make them take copies. I made the mistake of giving them an original letter and then was asked for it a second time but the company I got it from wouldnt give a second copy.
I was waiting 5 months for JSA and I got nothing from CWO.

Cheers for that.Accountant will do them for me and not go to town on me.On the copies, would that include bank statements etc... Also, what was the reason for cwo not giving anything? Thought the whole idea of SW was to get you out of a hole while waiting for your claim to be processed? How did you survive for the 5 mths you were waiting? Sorry for all the questions but its good to get firsthand info from someone in same boat.If you wish, reply by PM if you dont want to ans on public forum.Cheers again
