    According to RTE.ie

"Also in Lucerne, Conor McCullough (Crusaders AC) smashed the Irish under-23 hammer record with a throw of 75.09m.
The throw is a new personal best and betters the 71.10m record of Gary Halpin from 1988.
A transfer of allegiance form was completed by McCullough in recent weeks allowing him compete for Ireland instead of the US."

Great news, if it's true as he's a former gold and silver medalist at the World Junior Championships and beside his possible future successes as an individual, he'll add valuable points to the Irish team in European Team Championships!

From what I know this has been in the pipeline for the last 18 months or so but had to wait to change allegiances as part of the transfer rules (though as far as I know these have been changed recently?)
