Some channels are Polish only, others offer both Polish and English. Rather than list every channel on the Cyfra service, have a look here. If you look towards the right of the page it will tell you what language each channel offers

I have had Cyfra for two years now and I have every intention of getting them again when my current card expires in December.

Thanks for the reply. That link was really helpful, I'm going down through the channels at the moment. I'm just wondering though, where it says Discovery Channel Polska and National Geographic Polska etc., are those channels the same as their counterparts on sky? Or are the programmes different?

Also, how do you manage for an EPG? Is there an english version available on Cyfra?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 223 ✭✭xxyyxx

They are different versions to the ones on Sky. It is important to note that the main Discovery channel is Polish only.

With regards to an EPG, I use the Cyfra website. Not ideal but having Google Chrome translate it to English does help a bit.

On that page above it shows two Discovery Channels. One of them claims to broadcast in English. It has SID: 15716.

I will need to check that. Certainly didn't have English a short while ago. It will be great if it now does.

you usually get 3-4 games a weekend...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 201 ✭✭Johnny Johnson

3-4 from the Premier League. They also show La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Polish league. If you get a card with Eurosport, they will have 5 live Bundesliga games every weekend. A combination of Cyfra and Al Jazeera is very hard to beat for the price in my opinion

I had both Al Jazeera and Cyfra last season and they were great value. Thinking of getting a Cyfra package including Eurosport this season for the cycling mainly but with the added benefit of Bundesliga.

I see there are additional sports channels included in this package - Sport Klub, Orange, Polsat Play, TVP Sport. Do you know what sports these channels show? Could I do without Al Jazeera next season?

Also, I would be interested to know if any of the above show the golf majors and /or Ryder Cup? Golf is one of the major omissions from Al Jazeera in my opinion.

I think I watched about two things on Sport Klub, the one thats on the Cyfra+ package is different from the one that you will see listed on LJ's as Sport Klub se, Orange Sport can come in handy for SPL games that arnt on JSC for what ever reason (Showed a few 3pm Saturdays) Eurosport 1 & 2 HD both have English audio and the latters coverage of the Bundesliga with its regular magazine program and live coverage is far better than crappy ESPN's efforts here. To focus on one of your questions, see for golf mate your really having to look at $ky Italia mate, the $ky Sport channels on there have really good coverage of the golf majors and its in English on the second audio channel, I had a six month pre-paid card I bought from italy and theres a couple of pubs in Paisley that have $ky Italia for the golf and the old sound turned down and the radio stuck through the speaker system for the EPL (No English audio now remember!).

Thanks for the reply. I have thought about Sky Italia but it seems that you need a Sky box to receive it. Can the Sky box be used with a Diseqc switch to tune in non-Sky channels?

I currently have a Ferguson Ariva 120 Combo and like the flexibility this gives to tune in other satellites. Could this box decrypt the Sky Italia channels using a cam or the card reader?

What package would I need for EPL, La Liga, Serie A, Champions League, Eurosport and Golf. I see Calcio or Sport packs on Tech Digital for around the €300 mark but it is not clear exactly what is shown on each. What is the difference between packs?

Right mate, well where to start, when I bought my $ky Italia card from Italy I also bought a second hand $ky Italia box from ebay for the costly sum of £10, wits that about 12€?, any ho I bought this in case the Spiderbox 7000 I had didnt cut mustard (Alot forums said the Spider would, but others said no, usual pish!) at reading and updating the card. If you bought a daft cheap $ky Italia box like I did and hooked it up to the loop through on your Ariva and tunned to Hotbird on the Ariva when ever you wanted to use the $ky italia box that would work, I done that at the begining with mine. The card that has the sport pack has the golf and tennis etc mate, Calico means football and its focus is there, mostly Seria A & Seria b focused but with the EPL and some La Liga games, but not alot the Italians are bitter about La Liga and actually think their leagues better, lol.

I just got my card this morning.

What softcam can I use to update entitlements?

I have the card running with newcs but entitlements are long out of date. I've contacted satsklep but just wondering what setup I need to capture the emm's.

    I'd prefer MGcamd if possible.

    Thanks

I got mine 2 weeks ago but it wasn't activated (mostly they send out activated cards)... I had to ring them and ask to send the activation signal -> they say to leave the box on with the card in and be tuned to any of the channels on 10892H - I left it on Canal+
The card was activated 2 hours after the phone call - they were very helpful

Thinking of getting Polish Cyfra ordering via Poland with Poland A/C box and card. Why kind of dish and any ancillaries would i need to set it up for Irish viewing.

Do Cyfra provide a list of what PL games they will show over the coming months?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 223 ✭✭xxyyxx

A dish pointed at Hotbird is needed.

They do not publish a list of games like Sky and ESPN do. You can see what games are being shown on sites such as this

Next weekend for example they will be showing five live Premier League games.

80cm diameter dish will be best - smaller sky dishes can make some problems when weather is bad ( strong rain, etc). Pointing hotbird , so diferent than Sky.

    For channels I use http://cyfraplus.pl/program.html

you can select there sportowe ( sport)
many channels can be changed to the original audio ( english)

Cyfra also has many BBC channels - you can check it on the website actually.

Somebody asked here about games channels
TVP Sport is a polish channel of national broadcaster - mostly there is polish sport, but also some most important events from abroad.

Polsat play is not a sport channel.

You can also look at www.n.pl and www.cyfrowypolsat.pl

For those of you who read this, but don't see a point in getting Polish channels provider - average monthly bill is just 15 euro.

Any chance you could point me to the best/ cheapest combination for Cyfra and Al Jazeera please? ...mainly thinking of Premiership for the wife. With HD where available.

I just realised tonight that the English FA have live online radio commentary blocked :(

I can get the radio commentary from my additional sky box plugged into surround sound but that's 10 seconds ahead of the picture.

I am happy enough listening to the Polish commentary as all the
Player names sound the same regardless of language and the crowd sound is good too :o

Tonight is one of those nights where the Cyfra card really shows its value as the Chelsea-Reading match isn't on sky.

the polish commentaters are terrible tbh . the only match i watched in english on it this week was a polish match on eurosport 2

Google radiodelay, software to delay an audio input to the desired number of seconds and play back the delayed audio thru pc speakers

What about the fact that the English FA have blocked all internet radio broadcasts during live matches?

Another question please, tonight my Canal Gol has no signal and signal strength is 0%, the other Canal channels ore ok but just have 35% signal. Its on a 90cm dish?

Bummer missing the Barcelona madrid game right now :(

"English FA have blocked all internet radio broadcasts during live matches?"

Did you not mention you had a spare sky box for the bbc 5 live / talksport commentary? If so route thru the pc and delay using radio delay then route out to surround sound system.

I suspect you dish is not properly aligned perhaps

Thanks, my installer is coming over later to check, it's currently working after I did a re scan but signal strength is just 10%

I have found tp 11411 to be troublesome to lock onto too. It seems to be down to the FEC rate used by Cyfra to get more channels on that particular transponder.

Sorry about a really dumb question, I'm after setting up new dish for Canal+ or Cyfra for premier league. What is the channel for it. Is it on Eurosport or ESPN, I will buy a box with a card once I know where I am.

same here had it for 1 game it has gone since .

they have moved the majority of the premier league games to canal + sport hd canal + hd . with only one or 2 on gol which we all may have to watch on sd

hopefully they will change the other hd channels to a different transponder asap

I had to realign my dish to get reliable reception of Canal+ Gol HD. It was a right pain as only channels on that transponder were affected.

    Same here,
good dish alingment is required for this TP.
Canal + HD, +FILM HD,+GOL HD and +Weekend HD all coming with no breakup on a TD88 motorised now.

what signal quality are you getting for the Hd tp's

    what lnb would be recommended

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,678 ✭✭✭swoofer

what size dish and where are you? are you motorised ie dish? what receiver? i use a 1.1m triax here in Clare with the black ultra quad lnb and a spidrbox 9000hd receiver and good sat cable.

    As just now here are the readings = 11411h = 79%s 98%q
    11278v = 82% 88%q
    10719 = 92% 88%q

    ok

88cm old dish and old lnb using a fized dish with a ferguson arriva 120 atm, may need to upgrade the lnb it my signal quality is poor compared to that. .like to get 0.8 west maybe sometime soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,678 ✭✭✭swoofer

ok but say location, 88cm can be ok if it is fixed on 13east. I dont know about the ferguson 120 so cant say if tuner is any good or not. 0.8west will be tough on 88cm.

INVERTO BLACK ULTRA QUAD LNB IDLB-QUDL40-ULTRA-OPP this is the one I have
    HDTV DVB-S2 READY - 5 YEAR WARRANTY

and here is a link for the single one

Have you got your dish spot on, ie dead straight and perpendicular. and the elevation. I use dishpointer.com and then tweak it a lot. Until I am positive there is no more gain.

Perpendicular to what? If it's a fixed dish, you only need to get the right elevation & skew for the satellite it's aimed at. If the mounting isn't dead plumb, it can be easily compensated for with the dish elevation adjustment and/or lnb skew.

I've noted on a few other posts of mine about this, its not just the cyfra+ hd channels that give jip. The tvp hd transponder that serves all the polish platforms is a tricky one. Most of my call outs to polish customers have problems with the tvp hd channels here in west. I have a 1.1m dish, now 13east is well offset, but so far I've been lucky with my reception. Lots around here struggle with 80cms.
