Bought new in feb 05. Serviced by main dealer. Service and NCT Feb 11. Parked from April 11 to June 12. Started and drove occasionally. Back on road since June. Drove on short journeys then Drove 200km to Dub. 40km into return journey, engine management light comes on. Pull over. Turn off engine. Car would not restart. Insurance company get it towed to local main dealer who says after 2 days that engine was starved of oil and coolant. Needs new engine??? Is this possible? Car didnt do 500km between April 11 and June 12. Had just been serviced. No leaks! Anyone any ideas???

I'd be looking for a second opinion TBH.

With no external leak, only a fairly major head gasket failure/overheating issue could cause the loss of both il and coolant in a short space of time. But this couldn't have happened without obvious running issues before hand.

Have a look here for what is generally the cheaper/better option to a second hand engine of unknown history.

Cheers. Come to think of it there was a little steam when it stopped but no warning lights etc. No major gush.
