Looking for a new laptop, budget is around 500e but if I could find something cheaper it would be great. Don't mind if its online or b & m.

    What im looking for:
-Good build quality (Maybe a Metal Finish)
    -Nice Design/Looks
    -13-15.6" Screen
    -Long Battery Life (4hrs +)
    -Future Proof
    -Good speakers, sound quality

The brands ive been looking at are Samsung, Lenovo and Asus. Don't need good graphics as i dont play games, laptop will just be used for general things like browsing, ms office, listening to music etc.

    Thanks in Advance.

It would be very hard to find a future proof lappy for 500 Euros tbh, technology is just changing so fast:o

This Toshi looks ok specs wise

Thanks for the reply, not mad on toshiba, would prefer one of the brands mentioned above, its a good spec for the price though.

By future proof i just mean well built and decent specs to last a few years anyway.

How would you rate this samsung... Link

The CPU is very, very, very ,very and more very slow:D

Not worth it to even consider that lappy.

you can add RAM/SSD to improve performance the laptop but the bottom line is that you cant change/replace CPU.:)

Ya i was wondering about the cpu, all i done was checked the benchmark score here and it got higher then the 2nd gen i3's

No, that Amd is not even close to i3 second generation CPU

    position 210 -Amd
    position 80 - i3 Sandybridge

In simple terms there is nothing to compare.

Ok, thanks, was going to order it from amazon, only £279 there but usually dispatched within 2 to 5 weeks and i need something sooner as i just sold my own laptop.

Anyway couldn't get it with that processor, i'll keep looking anyway, for some reason im keen on getting a samsung because my gf just got one and design/looks/build quality are really good.

Still on the look out for a new laptop, had bought the Sony Vaio from dealbuzz but got my refund today.

What are your thoughts on this?

I don't really need that good of a processor for casual stuff but want to get it from argos and theres not many laptops with i3 processors there so may aswell pay a bit extra for the 3rd gen i5.

Its an i5, but a slow one. Suppose for browsing and that the ram would be nice if you're a tab whore like me, but really it seems a little lacking for the price tag.

Its not slow, its the latest 3rd gen Ivy Brige i5. Its ranked number 47 here in the benchmark comparison list.

Unless your confussed by the 1.6ghz argos have on the description? Thats just a mistake :P

Interested about your comment ,why do you think that this i5 third generation processor is the slow one ?

Just been looking at more in argos, if I was going to get a cheaper one I was looking at this.

I think its the RV520 model, here for around the same price on amazon.

Any opinions, is the first one worth the extra money?
