    Has anyone installed saorview/freesat yet?
I want to change over but want to keep the basic english channels. (do not want to sign up to SKY, UPC etc).

Do you have to buy online or is there any shops selling the freesat for english channels???

What are you 'changing over' from?

If you have a satellite dish already then its easy to install a Freesat receiver, although they aren't on open sale in Ireland as its a UK-only service. You will get all the free to air channels from the UK. Heres the list of what you will get

    http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/our-channels

You will be able to get a Freesat receiver from Amazon, Play or similar. Or Ebay.

At the moment, its just an aerial - so we rceive the Irish channels along with BBC, ITV and C4
So basically I'm looking for the same channels again.

Just an aerial? What part of the country are you in & what is the make & model of your current tv?

Hi Peter, yes 'just an aerial!!!'
I need to get a new TV anyway, so if the tv is saorview aproved, can you attach a freesat box to get hte BBC/ITV channels as well?

Yes, no problem attaching a Freesat receiver to a Saorview TV for the UK channels, satellite dish required for the Freesat receiver.

No need for Freesat if you currently receive the analogue UK and Irish channels with the aerial, you should continue to receive them with a new Saorview TV together with the Saorview channels.

Where do the UK channels come from at the moment, a local deflector or a transmitter in N Ireland?

If you get the UK channels from N Ireland you may be able to receive them in Digital now or when they switchoff the analogue signal island-wide on Oct 24th, posting your approx location would help with specific advice.
