Massey Fergurson 4270 gearbox problem

hi the range leaver in my MF 4270 isn't working correctly it is failing to go into gear 9 times out of 10 dose any one know what the cause of this could be and how to solve it it's not the shuttle gearbox it's the 18 f/6 R gearbox thanks in advance
