€1500 to spend- what would you buy?

As title suggests I plan on spending €1500 ish on a road bike. I have an aluminium bike which I plan on selling to get a carbon framed bike. So far the planet x sl pro with SRAM rival (what a price!- 1300) and the specialised roubaix base with tiagra (pricey 1750) appeal to me.

I'm after a bike that soaks up the bumps and has a more relaxed geometry.

All advice very much appreciated!!

Planet x rt57 is very comfortable, has gone up but they were 1750 so you might be able to haggle. I've spent up to 5 hrs on mine, highly recommended ( the rt 57 not the 5 hrs)

Try out Ribble. You build it yourself on their site. Bought one 2 years ago. Fantastic bikes.

I wouldn't go past Trek bikes. Have a look at the Madone 3 series.

How about the Boardman team carbon. I just got one and its on sale at the mo. Great value for the spec

A sweet looking bike and decent componentary for that money. Only thing that would put me off would be the FSA pieces. Gets my vote so far.

Specialized Tarmac seems to fit the bill

I think the Wilier Izoard with 105 is a good bit more than 1500, you can get Centaur for that kind of money but not 105 unfortunately.

Maybe, I got it for 1550 but prices seem to vary quite a bit depending on spec and what other accessories they put on the bike. I'd to shop around before getting it for that.

Yeah I know that they were charging 1500 for the 2011 model with 105 last year, that was a class deal, unfortunately when I went to order one, they were out of stock!

Izoard with Tiagra/105 mix on Wiggle sale €1377. Using a code of Tour10 will remove another 10% leaving the bike at €1240. Pretty decent bike for that money!

Yeah that's a good deal, but I rather the 2011/2013 frameset myself. The 2011 frameset can be found for 800 squid
