problem with vcr

when i put on the video channel its all white and snowy.i can make out the channels as i flick through them because i can see ghosts if you get my drift. and if i record any of the channels i can take the cassette put it in another video and watch the recording no problem. so in other words i have no picture on the video…

so in other words i have no picture on the video channel ie i cant flick through the channels and pick one to record.
and by the way if i put in a video to watch it it will work IF! i plug out the chorus connection at the back.
everything was fine up until 10 days ago then the picture went.

any ideas?
