Insurance changes

    Well folks,

My renewal came a few days ago,

Im currently insured with axa and had extension driving on my policy - which basically allowed me to drive any private car that's not registered in my name and be covered third party to do so.

It now seems that axa are removing this privilege for people under the age of 25, as I'm told, abuses to this privilege by the few has affected the many - as the staff member I spoke to said "young lads insuring a micra and putting bmw's etc in their fathers name and crashing them"

I make great use of the extension driving (not to the extent stated above), and it will be a fair lump of an inconvenience not having this anymore for various reasons.

Has anyone noticed, are other companies following suit with the removal of this part of their policies?

The age has gone to 25 nearly across the board now, I had to change insurers a few times to keep it. Then I turned 25...

Liberty seem to have kept Quinn's full licence, no age limit policy: http://www.libertyinsurance.ie/car-insurance/policy_summary.html

But I'd phone them to make absolutely sure.

I noticed last year when I checked over the details of the cert (AXA too). I originally had it because I had been with them for several years so I thought it weird for it to be gone. 1 phone call later and I was in the same boat as you op.
