I am thinking of bringing a few inexperienced paddlers onto Lough Allen next week and was hoping to start at or near Dowra, Co Cavan. Can anyone tell me if the Shannon from Dowra to Lough Allen is flat all the way or are there any hazards, and also is there a put in at or near Dowra. They'll be travelling in a canadian and…

I am thinking of bringing a few inexperienced paddlers onto Lough Allen next week and was hoping to start at or near Dowra, Co Cavan.
Can anyone tell me if the Shannon from Dowra to Lough Allen is flat all the way or are there any hazards, and also is there a put in at or near Dowra.
They'll be travelling in a canadian and I'll be in a seakayak.
