We should say we reported posts?

I was on the Warcraft forum and was looking at the charter for that forum.

I noticed that it says if you report a post, it is always a good idea to say so in a thread. It is not required though, but it does reduce the number of repeated reported posts.
Is that not being a dick since it basically says "I tattled on you"?

I do get the idea of what reporting a post does but I'm just confused since saying I reported X's post seems akin to calling them a troll or something.

In general there's no policy, though mods are required to maintain the privacy of reported posts.

If it's just some spambot, then there's no harm, it'll stop people reporting the post needlessly.
