Hi was looking into getting a garmin edge 500 and came across this on the Garmin website http://sites.garmin.com/fenix/#buy and was wondering would it be recomended to chose this over the 500 as it would be use in everyday life rather than just on the bike, would it have advantages or disadvantages between the 2 products

I'd imagine they'll both suffice, but the Edge product range is meant more for biking, has larger screen for more info display when on the move.

I'd find a GPS watch handy, but also a bit dangerous in that I couldn't use it safely on the move. Nice toy though!

Yes very true about the safety side of things, but also i do alot of fishing so would be handy to pin point a spot when out on the lake on a boat, so could kill 2 birds with 1 stone, and its also a cool looking watch which i also need

It almost certainly won't be as useful on the bike as an Edge 500, but I'd wait until DC Rainmaker does a full review before categorically concluding that.
