I ordered a second box for one of the bedrooms. I am thinking that I don't need it. Is it simple enough to ad an fta stb to the satellite after installation?

Yes, just attach to the incoming satellite co-ax, same as the Sky box, and scan it in.

You can get most FTA channels on a Sky box. No need to change it.

I have a FTA box, just had sky install today. Now want to use the FTA box in one of the rooms. Sky seems to have 2 cable running out of the box, which one do I split?

Sorry I mis-understood your question. If you want to add an extra receiver on to your system YOU CANNOT split the Sky cable inside. Instead you need to run a complete new cable from the receiver all the way to the dish.

On the dish there should be 4 connections, with two of them used. You need to connect to one of the unused connections. Sky can't be split that easily.

So do I just need a regular co-ax cable? and can I use both of the other 2 connections for separate boxes.

And after that is it simple enough?

One connection is needed per box. Two connections are needed for "+" boxes.

It is ordinary satellite cable, with F connectors on each end. The end at the dish should have waterproof tape on it.

    I haven't seen the Dish. So I can't say.

It is a +Box and the cable has F-Connectors at either end I assume but then I haven't seen the satellite up close.

Did they install a new satellite dish/LNB or did they reuse the existing dish/LNB?

What FTA sateliite receiver do you have?

    New everything.

The FTA receiver is old got it years ago may not even work, Comag, Lild.

Also I amn't all that impressed so far with Sky. Its funny I rarely watched Discovery but it was nice having it.

New everything should mean a 4 output LNB on the dish, so 2 spare outputs for Freesat or FTA satellite receivers if you can run spare cable.

The FTA receiver may still work, you could test it out by disconnecting one of the existing feeds to the Sky receiver and hooking it up to the FTA box. Be sure to power down the Sky receiver and FTA receiver when connecting/disconnecting the cables.

Got rid of Sky years ago, haven't missed it or Discovery since but it was nice having it when it was there as you say.

Well it didn't last. I left sky after 7 days, but still have the satellite dish. New plan to get a TV that has both Saorview and Satellite turner installed.

I assume this is feasible and simple.

One question: The second line for the Sky plus can now be used for another STB receiver?

Yes or a Freesat+ satellite receiver.

I will just be using one line from the sat in my new TV, I want to use the other line in a combi-STB box.
