I'm looking at building a media system, currently I do it this way:

Connect laptop to TV with VGA cable to watch movies (laptop doesn't have HDMI)
Music is played by plugging Ipod into surround sound system.

What I would like to do is:

Have a dedicated PC with all movie's and music stored on it
Have a nice front end for browsing this content on the TV
Would like to have this hidden and operate with a wireless mouse
I will be getting a satellite/saorview combo box so would like to be able to record TV to the PC also

Just looking for some pointers as to the best way to set all this up?

    Hi,

Late last year I built this system:
I got the below from hardwareversand.de
    4GB-Kit DDR3 Crucial Value PC1333 CL9
    ASRock E350M1/USB3, integrierte AMD E-350, Mini-ITX
    Chieftec BT-02B, 180W SFX, Mini-ITX
    LG BH10LS30 Blu-Ray Brenner bulk €70,80
OCZ Vertex Plus 60GB SSD SATA 6,4cm (2,5")
    Serial ATA Kabel DB-154242 0,3M, 1 Anschl.90° abgewinkelt

    From amazon.co.uk
    Logitech K400 Wireless Touch Keyboard

    ebay.ie
    HP MCE IR Wireless Receiver

I already owned a Logitech Harmony 885 Advanced Universal Remote Control and a NAS connected via cat5

I installed window 7 and XBMC for front end and everything works perfectly, because of the NAS I didn't need a big harddrive so went with a 60gig ssd.

    Total cost about €380

    Hope this helps,
