Samsung Galaxy Ace and Syncing Gmail Contacts - Grrrrr!

 Sorry if this has been done before guys but I can't find a thread on it. After having an accident with my Samsung Galaxy (it falling down the loo - I know, I know!) I've just gotten an Ace. It has Synced all my Gmail contacts but I just want my SIM contacts. I've looked at various helpdesk forums and it seems like you've to restore factory settings in order to do this. Is there way around this? I want to continue using my Gmail but I don't want to import 600 contacts - many of whom are people I won't be in contact with again! Very frustrating! If there is a way around this I'd appreciate any help! Thanks.

Go into contacts > menu > Display options. Option for "choose contacts to display", you can select only to display SIM contacts here.

Also you could choose option to only display contacts with phone number and then a lot of Gmail contacts which only have email address will not be shown in contacts.
