    Hi Folks!

Im looking to buy a diesel Car, something from 05 up so secondhand. ive started to do a bit of research but am finding it difficult to pin down exactly what makes/models/engines give trouble, as i am aware that some of the 2.0 litre ones have problems. im mainly interested in Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, BMW, Mercedes. I would love if someone could point me in the right direction as to where i can find info on the engines that are reliable.
from what ive read most of the 1.9TDI are fine but they are becoming scarce and some of the makers replaced them with 2.0TDI. One of the main factors i am looking for is reliabilty and better running cost. Budget could stretch to 8.5K for right car.

    Can anyone shed any light?

Buying from 05 in diesel , remember car is around 7 years old. Most will have at least 150 k on the clock , to justify having a diesel. I would suggest that you buy something with service history and possibly one owner. I had a focus diesel that I bought like that had around 130k and drove it for two years without trouble. It was however fully serviced. It should have clutch , pump and possibly dmf replaced if it has that mileage.

I'm selling this at the moment,
    http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=83572

It's had a new clutch and dual mass flywheel.
Also had the oil pump balance shaft kit because they can cause nasty problems, but no need to worry with this one.
    Just said id show you
