You'd clay approx every 6 months - dependant on what mileage you do

Polish when you clay if its necessary.

Wax every 3 months with 2 layers minimum - provided you are using the same wax (ie: topping it up) - if you are changing wax, then its recommended you clay again to give a fresh surface to bond to.

Regular wash routine should be with a good wash mitt and two buckets - google "two bucket method" and dry with a good microfiber drying towel. No need to polish or wax, but some people like to use a quick detailer spray to help drying - also there are a few spray sealant type products you can get that are similar to a quick detailer, that will add or boost shine between washes.

Detailing Republic is very helpful for information about techniques and products, etc.

    Hope this helps! :)

A good wash will do it,the trick the bring the shine up again though is drying with a good drying towel,i always use meguiars last touch detailer i mist it onto a panel as i dry it,brings the car up lovely! It's one of the best detailing products i've ever used i bought a 5 litre tub of it in concentrated from at a megs stand around 3 years ago and i still have around 2 and half litres left and i use it a lot.

So is a chamois no use for drying?

No - not ideal - they tend to dry out and become hard, which will leave light marks on the paint work. Over time these marks will be all over your paint work, resulting in a dull appearance and you'll need to polish them out.

Anything that goes near your paint work should be as soft and as plush as possible; so wash mitts for washing, good microfibers for polishing and buffing and a good microfiber drying towel for, well, drying! :p
