    Hi Guys
Sorry to bother all you in boards land again. Dealer came back with a replacement car. Only problem is that the car is an Lx model and i bought a Zetec model off him. Now he change the alloys to the lx from the Zetec but what are the main differences and what is the difference in price. One plus is the car does have only 800000 on the clock i still to look at it later but want to know what is missing between the two cars and see if i am getting screwed on this deal when i paid 4500 for my zetec

I'm sure Henry Ford III will be along to tell you the exact differences in spec, but the difference is greater than just fogs and alloys , the LX was always very basic. Not sure about the details of your case but if you are owed a like for like replacement you are not getting it here.

Zetec are generally a much better spec... alloys, centre armrest, sometimes aircon, heated front and rear windows and seats are often better.;)

my feeling is that i am be done out of money here
would i be wrong in thinking there is much of a difference in prices between the two cars

    Insist on a Zetec.

What are the main differnence is it a case here 600 euro to put all the extra in the lx to make it a zetec

LXs tend not to have the alloys, air con, fogs, body colour door handles and mirrors, trip computer that Zetecs have. I think the Zetec had cruise control and a centre armrest as well.

Rather than getting distracted by details like spec you need to look at the big picture here. Does the car you're being offered have a service history? If so, ring all the garages who stamped the book - before accepting the car. Also have an independent mechanic whom you trust examine the car, again before accepting it.

If you bought and paid for a zetec then you are entitled to one. If you want to settle for the lesser model then there should be a price change. Zetec models generally sell a little easier but it is really up to yourself to decide on what course of action you will take.;)

Most of the equipment and trim differences have been covered, except for the rear seats.

Zetec will have diagonally sliding outer rear seats. Turns a 5 seater into a 4 with great extra legroom.

If you've paid for a Zetec you should expect a replacement to be a Zetec also. A/c is vital in a car with a lot of glass. LX didn't have it as standard afaik.

Just wondering what the price difference would be between the lx Nd zetec bear in mind he iS willing to usr alloys off the zetec on the lx. this is only if if I think It is worth my while and .depended on what money should go my way

A Zetec wouldn't be worth a lot more secondhand, but if you originally bought a Zetec, then that's what you should get. A Zetec would be a lot easier for a dealer to shift because of the added creature comforts, and that's probably why they're trying to shift the LX onto you. Being easier to shift on and being worth more are two different things though!

However, if you were to trade in a C-Max, you'd get a bit more for the Zetec, as they are a lot easier to sell on due to the additional creature comforts fitted as standard.

Zetec C Maxs are far from rare. When I was looking at them a while back there more zetec models than any other. LXs are harder to come by, unlike the focus. I'm sure someone knows why that is. Ghias are fairly rare, with leather rarer than hen's teeth.

If the LX checks out and you are not put off by the lesser spec then I say negotiate a partial refund and go with it. He may be glad to be rid of you so use that to your advantage and negotiate hard.

No cruise control in my ZETEC. Colleague has the Ghia, which has cruise control, auto dim rear view mirror, auto wipers, auto lights, all round electric windows, pull up sunshades in the back, extra mirror to watch the brood in the back, more storage compartments, bigger computer display in the dash and side indicators in the mirrors. (Plus maybe one or two more things I can't remember right now).
My ZETEC has alloys, aircon, heated screens front and rear, armrest, body colored door handles and mirrors, front and rear fogs, trip computer (which allows you to select steering wheel setup from comfort to sport and several languages and imperial or metric measurements) but no electric windows in the rear, which is a pain sometimes.

I thought you wanted the garage to take the Zetec back because it was clocked?

They made it clear that they can't afford to give money back
